Museum pass -confusion

Dear TA

We are (three people) all set to visit the city of lights and museums(!) from 22 to 28 April. We are no great museum enthusiasts but here are the ones we plan to visit;

Musee de Louvre(of course), Musee de Orsay, L%26#39;Orangerie, St. Chapelle, (may be Picasso%26#39;s).

Is buying a museum pass worth it, I mean, cheaper than buying individual passes? if so which one two day or four day pass? Does this musuem pass also inlcude entry to Notre Dame, Arc de Triomph and Sacre Couer and, most importantly, the Versailles?

Thanks

hi there, we visited paris in december and got a museum pass as it was included in our hotel rate...had it not been we probably would have still got it. i think the four day one is about 45-50 euros so if you only visit 3 or 4 museums t%26#39;s not worth it. but to us it meant we could visit as many as we wanted that were included and then not feel %26#39;obligated%26#39; or %26#39;guilty%26#39; about how long we stayed and whether we enjoyed each one! Yes it includes the tower of notre dame, entry to versailles (you can pay 6 euros for the audio guide which is totally worth it i think!) arc de triumph is on there as well. We basically wenat around to as many as we could and stayed longest at the ones we really enjoyed and the ones we weren%26#39;t so keen on we just took a look and then left so if we had to pay entry to all of them we would%26#39;ve spent well over 50 euros, probably 70 or more. We visited about 10-12 things on the pass. Rodin museum and gardens is beautiful too and on the pass!

What you have to do is calculate the entrance fee for each museum you want to go to, then see if it is greater than the museum pass you have in mind. If it is more expensive to buy individual tickets, the pass would be more economical.

THe museum pass includes the Notre Dame tower climb (but you can%26#39;t line jump there like you can at the other museums) and it includes Versailles.

As far as I am concerned it is worth buying the pass to skip the line.

Thanks for the posts. Looks like it%26#39;s worth buying the pass. The issue whether I should buy the two-day pass or the four-day pass. Obviously two day pass means I should rush through all museums within two days. is that correct?

Let me start calculating individual entry fees to these places while I wait fo more comments....

Sorry to sound silly, but is there a 3 day pass? I think the 2 day is not enough but the 4 day sounds like it is too many days. I guess you need to use it without skipping a day. eg. Save a day, for later in the week. Thank you

brudda: there is no longer a three day pass, just 2, 4 or 6. And I%26#39;m not sure if I understand your post exactly, so I just want to make sure you know/understand that the passes, no matter what their duration, are for consecutive days. The clock begins the first day you use it.

Karan3842:

Louvre - 8,50€

Musee d%26#39;Orsay - 7,50€

l%26#39;Orangerie - 6,50€

Sainte-Chapelle - 5,50€

Picasso - 6,50€

Notre Dame - 5,50€

Arc de T - 6,10€

Sacre Coeur - n/a

Versailles - 13,50€ (The value of the pass at Versailles varies from around 7€ up to 13,50€ depending on the day of the week you visit. It does not include access to the gardens on weekends during season, nor does it include an audioguide)

Total for above = 59,60€

Passes are 30, 45 and 60€, for 2, 4, and 6 days respectively.

Thank you Tereza. The website was very informative. Thank you Arrow Capet for all the info. I was wondering if I could skip one day and use it later, I guess not. The three day would have been perfect. Now on to the math. It will probable come out the same. However, the pass will allow for faster entrance, without the long waits.

According to ARrow%26#39;s math, it makes sense to get the six day pass. Basically the same amount of money, you don%26#39;t have to worry about cramming it all into 4 days, and the line jumping is priceless.

Further to the costs for the Louvre, I have just checked the website and the cost of visiting after 1 July will be 9 Euro.

Also, if you visit on a late night (Wednesday or Friday) from 6pm-9.45pm the cost is 6 Euro. We visited on a recent trip on a Friday evening and encounted no queues, plus save some Euro.
