Reviews

When people write a hotel review after a visit, what do people reading the forum look for?

I%26#39;m not sure what you are asking...how do people look for a review?

If you are asking %26#39;what do people want to see in a review?%26#39; I can only answer for myself, but here goes with information I would find useful...

Ease of check-in - was there someone there to help with bags.

Did you get the room you booked (or better)

Cleanliness of room/bathroom

Size of room (some are very tiny)

Comfort of the bed

Was it too hot, cold? Can you open the window?

Noise - from other rooms or street

Anything that made the stay %26#39;special%26#39; or %26#39;awful%26#39;

The general neighbourhood - near cafes/restaurants or?

Whether it was good value for money

I%26#39;m sure others would like to know more, but I%26#39;m fairly easily satisfied.

Sorry Les, I really wish that I was so much more computer literate. Maybe this isn%26#39;t the site that I should have asked the question on. I read a lot of the hotel reviews, that talk about rm size, cleanliness, restaurants. attractions in the area, bedbugs etc. Almost the same stuff as on here, just a little more about the hotel rm, ambiance, type, help from staff, elevators,bathrooms etc. You know! So, I am asking wwhat a good review would consist of? Thanks for helping me out. I do appreciate everyones patience.

When I read a review, I don%26#39;t mind if it%26#39;s very similar to previous reviews of that hotel because that would only support the statements already made and make me feel that there%26#39;s no dispute about that information. I also always look for additional info. so that I can get an even clearer picture of the hotel. Of course there%26#39;s just so much you can write about a hotel so sometimes reviews end up being repetitive, but as I said before, I find that just as helpful.

I look for several reviews to basically say the same thing. I look for is it what is advertised, are the rooms clean, the lobby inviting, or something like that, the staff cordial, the rate what I expected and was it ready when they said it would be. Also is it the room I was %26#39;promised%26#39; and the ammenities as described. I don%26#39;t care about street noise cause we always travel when the windows would be closed. I would like to know if the hallways are quiet, but that is rarely addressed. Same for adjacent room noise. That is generally only addressed if it is adverse.

Besides looking for the things all the posters mention, I also look for %26quot;hotel management response%26quot;, if there is any. IMO, that%26#39;s another way to see if the owners/managers care. that doesn%26#39;t mean that the hotels that not post a reply don%26#39;t care, but for me it%26#39;s a plus for those who do.
