Courtyard Paris Neuilly

Hi

We are staying in the following hotel from Sunday until wednesday. Ive figured out that this is in the business district but am shockingly bad at working out where in paris it is.

Can you let me know if we are in walking distance of likes of eiffel, arc de triomphe, notre dame, and what is the general area like. I am just trying to get a feel for if we can pop out for tea in the evening local if we like or take a wander.

We visited amsterdam 2 years ago and just found our way vaguely with maps but by walking and exploring so fully prepared for that again but just want to get a slight bearing!

Here%26#39;s the link to the Trip Advisor page where you can find more information and guest reviews of this hotel. As you will learn there, it is actually in a very nice, close-in, suburb of Paris. You probably won%26#39;t want to walk to many of the places you list (except perhaps the arc de triomphe, which would still be a fairly long walk), but there is frequent public transportation into the heart of Paris.

One other thing -- I%26#39;m not certain about that particular address in Neuilly, but Neuilly generally borders the 16th and 17th arrondissements, so if you look at that general area on your map, it should be easier for you to locate.

Neuilly is a very upscale suburb of Paris. No, you are not in walking distance of very much....it is past La Defense on the RER A. A dear friend of mine lives in Neuilly and as lovely as it is, it isn%26#39;t really ideal for walking to sights in Paris.

However, the RER will whisk you into Paris proper in no time flat (just a couple stops from Charles de Gaulle Etoile), so you don%26#39;t have to worry about transportation.

Hi, I stayed in the courtyard Neuilly several years ago. It was not out quite as far as La Defense. The closest Metro was Place de la Porte Maillot which was a two to three block walk.

A group of us also, in a misguided thought, walked to the Arc de Triomphe and then to the Trocadero for a view and photo of the Eiffel tower. We were all very tired by the end, the most difficult knowing that we would be walking back. It probably took about 30-45 min of straight walking to get there. There was not anything of note to stop at until the Etoile de Gaulle which had some sidewalk cafes.

I believe even the hotel will recommend a cab to the metro station. It is a nice area, but no business or night life in the vicinity.

Iomgirlie,

Daft question perhaps, but is it too late to switch hotels?

Your hotel really is way out in the suburbs of Paris, albeit a nice suburb. Just wandering around the centre of Paris in the evening is half the fun.

HI There,

the hotel staff can take you to the nearest metro station for free. They have a van that can shuttle you even to the La Defense area shopping center.

I%26#39;ve stayed in this hotel- very quiet and nice. The staff are very helpful. It%26#39;s safe to walk in the neighborhood- there%26#39;s small cafe%26#39;s about 3 blocks away. The only disadvantage is not having acessible and convenient transportation at night. You have to take a Taxi if you%26#39;re planning to stay out late. One good thing is since the hotel is in a residential area, there%26#39;s a laundromat, cafe, little grocery store behind the hotel (100 yards away) that we found helpful.

thanks guys, I didnt get much choice in hotels. I won the holiday through work at christmas and got given a choice of a few marriot hotels all of which were in the business district. I had to pick 3 and this was the one that had availablity!! so stuck with this choice unfortunately. I would normally shop round on the net for a bargain that was right in the centre of evertying which is why this has thrown me so much! Thanks for all the tips though. Will give an update on how it went when we get back
