Train to

Need to get from Lyon airports to Champagny-en-Vanoise Resort, near La Plagne. Any suggestions on the cheapest way? Is there a train to Moutiers from Lyon? Is Moutiers close enough?

Hi again

First be aware that Champagny-en-Vanoise is close to La Plagne on skis only, by road they are about 50 km apart. From Moutiers you have to follow the road towards Courcheval.

To take the train you need to take the TGV to Chambery then change, just cross the platform I think, to the slow train to Bourg-St-Maurice. You get off at Moutiers and take a taxi to Champagny. I would advice booking a taxi to meet you.

If you are on the early LHR - Lyon flight there is a TGV which leaves Lyon at 11.45 arrives Chambery 12.45. Then the train to Moutiers leaves Chambery at 13.02.

No sure about cheapest but most convenient is definately Taxi Dunand from Champagny-en-Vanoise. Very prompt and excellent service. We have used him two years running. Lovely resort - you will love it - so much nicer than the purpose built resorts in La Plagne - still retains it%26#39;s french-ness and everyyone is very freindly. Have a great time skiing.
