Getting from Arc De Triomphe to Bastille

I%26#39;m planning to be in Eiffel Tower area from afternoon onwards and then go to Arc De Triomphe around evening. Then later on back to hotel in bastille area (near gare de lyon station). I wanted to get some detail as to how to get back.

which is the closest station from the Arc?

which station do I drop off?

It should be safe too

What%26#39;s better RER or metro?

Thanks in advance,

Zinch

Choose %26quot;Plan des lignes%26quot; in the left column - then %26quot;Plan du Métro%26quot; - you might as well get used to it.

tip:

Even as a frequent Paris traveler I find RER slightly confusing as the lines often have several ending-destinations (with loooong names....) and as I never bothered to memorize in which end of the line they are placed I always run the risk of going in the wrong direction.

Metro is easier - only 2 destination names to remember.

Oh, BTW: Paris is safe.

From Arc de Triomphe to Bastille you take metro line 1 at Charles de Gaulle Etoile or at Georges V (a much smaller and easier metro stop) in the direction of Chateau de Vincennes and you get off at

Bastille. Then you walk the rest of the way. Both areas are busy way into the night. You could change at Chatelet to line 14 that goes to gare de Lyon but that would involve a lot of unpleasant walking underground esp. at gare de Lyon.
