Hi everyone,
I%26#39;ll be headed for paris for the first time this summer (late june) and was wondering whether anyone could suggest some good hotels to stay in in the latin quarter area. alternatively, i would love to stay in a boutique hotel rather than those chain hotels (like the hilton) where the decor would be a little more offbeat.
any advice or suggestion would be greatly appreciated! :)

You could try Hotel de Senlis. It%26#39;s a block from the RER stop at Luxembourg Gardens. It may not have any air conditioning though, so rethink this one. I put a review in the Hotels tab above. The decor is way offbeat, maybe typical for Paris? There may not be any right angled walls in this place. The ceilings could be really low with timbers that look hundreds of years old, but refinished of course.
Be careful with these independent hotels %26amp; do check the reviews. Hotel rooms in Paris are not as frequently clean, tidy and budget like in Germany. They are better deals than London though!

Screw those boutique hotels, those mom-and-pop walkups. Give me an American chain with great beds, 32-inch TV, more than just a cold croissant and coffee breakfast. I%26#39;ve been to Paris a dozen times. There is nothing that beats a nice big room at the Marriott or the Holiday Inn on rue L%26#39;echequier. And with a 21-day advance purchase, you can get the Marriott for 82 euros a night, double!!!

If you are looking for a small hotel in the 5th. with simply decorated, clean rooms and efficient, helpful service then I can recommend my current favourite place to stay in Paris - the Hotel RĂ©sidence Monge on rue Monge. It is well located within a 5 minute walk of 2 Metro stops and within easy walking distance of most of the tourist sites.

I would recommend Hotel Henri IV Rive Gauche. It is in the 5th on St. Jacques across from St. Severin Church. It was wonderful being s close to Notre Dame, the river, the bus, batobus (water taxi). The hotel has 24 rooms on 6 floors, so only 4 rooms to each floor.

Hi Zerodross, have a look at the following link. This is a small group of hotels unlike a big chain. They are French, well run, clean, well maintained, staff are helpful and they have a certain charm. The rooms are not large but more than adequate. All are located on the left bank, mainly Quarteri Latin:

Another site that will allow you to do a selective search on properties is:
