Latin Quarter Food and Drink

Hi

In April my wife and I are staying at the Henri IV Rive Gauche Hotel in the Latin Quarter for 3 nights. Does anyone have any restaurant/bar recommendations for this area. We would like to experience good French cuisine but it doesn%26#39;t have to be fancy; good rustic/authentic food is just as enjoyable!

Many thanks

I%26#39;ve spent many an afternoon and evening in the Brasserie Balzar on the Rue des Ecoles (right next to the Sorbonne)...it%26#39;s very good and has a wonderful atmosphere!

Le Petit Pontoise is near the Seine on the Rue de Pontoise. You will get a wonderful French experience here.

Atelier Maitre Albert is another great place near the Seine, on the Rue Maitre Albert. It%26#39;s a Guy Savoy place. A bit more expensive than the others, but the food is really good but not %26quot;fancy%26quot;.

Le Petit Prince de Paris on Rue Lanneau is a hidden gem, wonderful food and a really fun, laid-back atmosphere. People rave. I%26#39;ve been once, must return.

Never been, but Les Papilles on the Rue Gay Lussac is supposedly incredible food and good prices. Fixed menu every day, you eat what they give you.

I really enjoy Le Grand Bistrot - 7, rue Saint-Severin

http://legrandbistrot.free.fr/

It is primarily known for Fondue and Raclette - and the atmosphere is very %26quot;savoyard%26quot;. I%26#39;ve been there in a group of 25 and as a couple. They are very accomodating and the food is great. You%26#39;ll love the atmosphere!

Also, if you are in the mood for something quick, yummy and filling - there is a great gyro place in the Latin Q. It%26#39;s called Le Gyros - 3 r Harpe. The staff is friendly and they have the best gyro ever - and I%26#39;ve been to Greece. And sometimes you can%26#39;t beat a 5e meal.

Enjoy your trip!

I share your enthusiasm for eating authentic French cuisine in a simple/rustic setting. My favourite places to dine in the 5th. are:

l%26#39;Époque, 81 rue du Cardinal-Lemoine near Place de la Contrescarpe

Au Bon Coin, 21 rue de la Collégiale

Le Languedoc, 64 Boulevard de Port-Royal

Bon Apetit!
