Les Escaliers de Montmartre by Brassai

I have had hanging on my wall the famous photograph by Brassai for years and have always fantacized about going there to see the stairs in person. I am at last going to Paris for the first time. Does anyone know where I would go to find this beautiful seen of stairs, trees and streetlights?

They run next to the funiculaire in Montmartre.

If you want to see the stairs like Brassai saw them, go early in the morning and preferably on a Sunday morning. As you walk all over Montmartre you will see other sets of stairs that are also very charming. Enjoy!

Agree - agree - an early Sunday morning in the quiet streets of Montmartre with the stairs and the beautiful views. OMG, take me back there asap ! Another favorite of mine is Rue Maurice Utrillo on the eastern side of Sacré Coeur leading down to the most picturesque little square youv%26#39;e ever seen, with trees and cafés. Then walk up Rue Paul Albert to the top and then maybe down on your right into Passage Cottin.

I AM COUNTING NOW - only 3 months+ 1 week more to go before I will be the lucky one climbing the Montmartre stairs again!!!
