We%26#39;re going to Paris this week with our 5yr. old. Looking for recommendations for cafes/restaurants not that pricey with great food %26amp; atmosphere ( not too touristy) that would work with our daughter. We%26#39;re staying at the Westin.

Well, I don%26#39;t know about the great food and atmosphere, but your 5 year old would be fine at the chains Hippopotomus and Bistro Romain, as well as the multiple pizzerias in town....Very kid friendly food and atmosphere.

Most cafes have a non smoking section and a relaxed atmosphere for kids. Try to avoid the busiest hours when waiting can be a problem.

The %26#39;%26#39;Hippopotamus%26#39;%26#39; chain is not pricy, nice for families with children and the smoker/non smoker area is quite distinct. They are specialist in meat but you can find several other dishes with unlimited side dishes (french fries, gratin dauphinois, french beans) and succulent deserts. Your kid will love it.
Another place that I quite like (we have just been there on sunday with a 8 year old nephew who loved it) is %26#39;%26#39;Chez Papa%26#39;%26#39;. It is a down to earth restaurant serving huge salads (no need to order anything anymore) and other dishes from the south west cuisine. The quality is fine, not gourmet - never meant to be - and the price is very reasonnable: you can eat for 25 euros for 2 persons with a drink and an ice cream (for the kid).
There must be more that 3 adresses of %26#39;%26#39;chez papa%26#39;%26#39; but I mainly know the following: in the 15th district (M° Denfert), 20th district (M°Gambetta) and 10th district (M° Louis Blanc).
Otherwise, I know this little %26#39;%26#39;crêperie%26#39;%26#39; in the 5th district were I love to go. Very family oriented place, nice crêpes and good value for money. Its name is %26#39;%26#39;Pot au Lait%26#39;%26#39; (M° Censier Daubenton). I just love to go there as it is really down to earth and you see couples and families with childres enjoying their %26#39;%26#39;crêpes aux champignons%26#39;%26#39; followed by a delicisious %26#39;%26#39;crêpe suzette%26#39;%26#39;....
And nom I am craving for a crêpe....

Many cafes happily serve children. But its best to go early @ 5-5:30, and all menus are posted outside entrance to help you find appropriate menu. Many may also serve %26quot;Steak Frites%26quot; for children even if not listed on menu. The fries are perfect and filling, even if the steak is usually a tougher cut.
The Westin should be helpful pointing you in all the right directions.
