possible itinerary

We are making our first trip to Paris this weekend (Sat-Tuesday). I haven%26#39;t ironed everything out yet since we didn%26#39;t know until yesterday that we would actually be able to make the trip. If anyone has any ideas on ways to make it better, would love to hear. There will be 4 of us, the 2 children are 15 and turning 12 (his birthday trip).

Saturday, will leave out early, about a 4 hour drive from home to hotel near Disney. Planning to spend whatever time we have that day at Disney and figuring out the best way to get to the Metro (or is it RER) and buy tickets (haven%26#39;t figured out if Sunday and Monday would be better with Paris Visite or Mobilis). Possibly do dinner at Disney Village.

Sunday morning we plan to get up early, breakfast, and head into Paris. Louvre is the first stop of the day since it is free this Sunday. Is there a best way to go in? Planning to only hit some highlights of things we want to see, so a few hours once inside there. We then want to leave things open as to what we do and see that afternoon, hoping we get to see the outside of Notre Dame and planning to see if we can find something small to eat picnic style around that area. Mostly just wanting to spend the afternoon enjoying the area right around the Louvre and walking along the Seine. We want to finish out the night with a cruise on the Seine.

Monday morning, early rising again to begin the day at the Eiffel Tower. Mostly the boys want to make sure we get some pics there and buy some postcards and mail them off from wherever it is at the Tower that you get the postmark. If we go up to any floor of it, that will be decided after we get there. We are then thinking about making our way towards the Arc de Triomphe and leaving the rest of the day for whatever happens to come up.

As to food, we are going to have breakfasts at the hotel. We want to try a crepe from somewhere while we are in the city. We want to do snacks or lunches picnic style somewhere along the areas we are in, whether along the river or in a park. Dinners are what we aren%26#39;t at all sure what we are doing yet. We do want to do one dinner in either a cafe or bistro to enjoy the %26quot;normalcy%26quot; of eating in a normal place for Paris.

Tuesday we will be checking out of the hotel to drive back home, but hoping we can figure out somewhere along A4 that we want to stop and check out along the way back to Germany.

I am just hoping I haven%26#39;t tried to figure in too much for Sunday. Would love to hear any input that might give me new ideas. We really want to experience some of Paris and wet our appetites for future trips.

Thanks for all the helpful posts I have read on the boards. Before coming here, we were planning to try and do everything imaginable and spend every minute running from one place to another.

Ok, I%26#39;m guessing you%26#39;re going to Disney because of the birthday boy? Otherwise I%26#39;d skip it.... Check out the http://www.ratp.com/ for directions....it looks like you take the RER into Paris and then hop on the Metro. If you%26#39;re walkers you can easily walk from the Louvre to the Arc de Triompe. You might consider taking one of the hop-on, hop off bus tours. You can get on and off as many times as you want (and with kids) you don%26#39;t have to walk everywhere. Check out L%26#39;open Tours....

Enjoy!

Your itinerary strikes me as completely reasonable.

For meals, I recommend the inverse. Lunch in a bistro or cafe, saving dinner for the lighter, picnic meal. This gives you time to rest your feet mid-day, can be more affordable and makes for a more flexible dinner solution, which can be handy when touring with kids, especially with a long commute home each evening.

Take a look at my reply to your other post in the France forum. I think I covered several of your logistics questions there.

Have fun!
