Paris Airports Transfer

Your Help PLEASE

On May 19(Sat) my wife and I arrive CDG at approx.7.00am on Singapore A/lines from Melbourne.

We have a flight booked from ORLY to AVIGNON at 1.20pm.

1.Have we allowed enough time for airport transfers(we plan on catching the Air France Bus)

2. Are there shower facilities at Orly. If we had time is there a place that we could hire/rent towels from.

3.On arrival at Avignon we are being told by Hertz that the car rental desk will not be open. It has been suggested that we travel to the TGV station to pick up the car. What are the available transport options to get from airport to TGV.

Thanks in anticipation

It seems a lot simpler just to catch the TGV from CDG to Avignon and collect the car there. I am not sure of the timetables from CDG but you might have time to shower there (I assume there are facilitie but not sure) and save the trip to Orly and the wait there) and get to Avignon at about the same time as you would by plane. I didn%26#39;t know Avignon had an airport.

If you are not bound to fly to Avignon, there is a TGV from Aeroport CDG 2 TGV that day at 10.10 am arriving at Avignon TGV at 1.21 pm,

There are direct TGVs from CDG to Avignon TGV taking about three hours with departures at 10:10, 11:40, 14:06 and later. Advance purchase fares for May 19 range from 35€ to 48€ pax in second class, 50€ to 74€ in first class.

The Air France coach alone will cost you 16€. Best I can tell there is no shuttle service from AVN to the city. A taxi will cost you ~22€ and then you would have to take a shuttle to the TGV station. All in all you%26#39;d probably prefer to take a taxi all the way at a cost of perhaps 30€-35€. aeroport.fr/les-aeroports-de-l-uaf/avignon.p…

Or you could take the 10:10 TGV from CDG arriving at the Avignon TGV station at 13:21 or, giving yourselves ample leeway, departing CDG at 11:40 arriving Avignon TGV at 14:42. Certainly seems a whole lot easier to me. www.voyages-sncf.com Check this page by MorganB *before* you try to book tickets if you decide to switch to the direct TGV: http://tinyurl.com/qpdef. I%26#39;d probably do this even if I couldn%26#39;t cancel the ORY-AVN flight.

I am not aware of shower facilities at either CDG or ORY. Others may have different info.

I have to add that I STRONGLY urge you NOT to drive on the day you arrive in France. The combination of major jet-lag and extreme fatigue will have a severe negative effect on your perception, judgment and reaction time. I know of at least one person who was lucky to survive a serious accident under similar circumstances — and he was not driving a strange car, was not on unfamiliar roads, understood clearly the driving and signage conventions, and was not driving on the %26quot;wrong%26#39; side of the road. The accident occurred within a few km of his home airport. He did not fall asleep at the wheel but responded too slowly and probably inappropriately to a developing situation in traffic ahead of him.

I would suggest you either spend a day and a night in Paris before going to Avignon or spend a night in a hotel there and give your mind and body a chance to adjust. I would say the same thing even if you were only flying from the east coast of the US. Melbourne to Paris is bad enough. Now add on the additional time and hassle of getting to Avignon...

But it%26#39;s your call — as is what you do about getting to Avignon...

Good luck!
