Gare du Nord to Gare St Lazare

We will be traveling on Eurostar from London to Paris (on a Sunday) and then need to travel by train (from Gare St Lazare) to Bayeux. There is only one afternoon train to Bayeux (16:00) on Sundays. Before booking Eurostar tix, how long will it take to get from Gare du Nord to Gare St Lazare? Is this a difficult trek - 6 adults carting luggage? Any advice would be much appreciated. I need to make sure we don%26#39;t miss that 1 train!

I am finding some great advice by searching previous posts. I am beginning to think for time and inconvenience it may be better to take the ferry to Caen and then a train to Bayeux. Am going to check the Caen to Bayeux train schedule for Sundays.

Good luck!

Does the %26quot;Good Luck!%26quot; mean I%26#39;m going to need it? Is this a difficult trek? I am considering ferry to Caen rather than Eurostar. Even considering flight from Heathrow to CDG and CDG to St Lazare to Bayeux on that 4:00 train

From Gare du Nord you take RER line E and it is one stop to gare Saint Lazare.

Stop at gare du Nord (inside train station) is called Magenta and stop at St Lazare is called Haussmann. Make sure you exit at Pole Saint Lazare, then it is a short walk outside on rue du Havre.

Otherwise it is a long walk underground.

This takes 5 minutes by train and 15 minutes total (waiting for RER train and walking to Gare St Lazare).

Thank you for your help. I booked my Eurostar tix today. Can%26#39;t wait.

IMO Eurostar would be a lot less of a hassle than the LHR-CDG route as well as probably being significantly cheaper. It is certainly easier to get from GduN to StL than it is to get from CDG.

Do continue to research the ferry option. It would be a pleasant way to travel from London to Normandy. if you don%26#39;t know this already you will have to travel about 15 km from the ferry port at Ouistreham to Caen to pick up a train to Bayeux. I believe there is a shuttle service from the quayside but the ferry web site will probably give you that information. The folk on the appropriate UK forum can help with trains to Portsmouth. (BTW if you do travel this route you really should take a day at least to explore the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the Royal Navy Museum, Nelson%26#39;s flagship HMS Vicotory, HMS Warrior and all the rest.)

If you have not already looked at it this page by MorganB will help immensely when it comes to figuring out train fares in France: http://tinyurl.com/qpdef. Basically the strategies it suggests will work also for Eurostar bookings but you should investigate whether booking a RT rather than a one way ticket is cheaper even if you do not plan to return to London. Also compare fares, especially the one way fares using the UK Eurostar site with fares using the US Eurostar site. (You will have to delete any Eurostar cookies to switch from one to the other.) RailEurope will probably sell you tickets for any or all of your train travel but only at a hefty premium over the fares you can find by booking direct through SNCF and/or Eurostar.

I think you can now book Eurostar tickets up to 120 days ahead. SNCF bookings open 90 days before the relevant travel date.

Continued good luck!

it seems my post is moot. That%26#39;s what happens when you get interrupted in mid-post. Sorry about all the useless info.

Have a great trip! I do think Eurostrar is the simplest way to go.
