Beauvais Airport

I am looking at a flight from Paris to Madrid on Ryan air that leaves from Beauvais. I have found rates between 0.19 and 9.99 Euros! Is it far from Paris? Is it hard to get to or wuld you just recommend taking the train from Paris to Madrid?

(I can get a round trip Cancun/Madrid/Cancun easier and cheaper than adding the Paris leg as I will be arriving in Madrid then going to Barcelona and the Loire Valley--staying in Tours--and then on to Paris for a week.) Any other suggestions appreciated as well. Not much activity on the Tours forum.

Thanks in advance.

I flew into Beauvais from Venice. To do it from Paris you would take an express bus from Metro: Porte Malliot (1blvd Pershing, 17th arrondissement) which takes about one hour to reach Beauvais Airport. Tickets can be purchased from Ryanair or at Porte Malliot. Plan to be on a bus about 2 1/2 hours before your flight. I would warn you about the weight restrictions on Ryanair. Double check what they currently are. If you%26#39;re traveling light it isn%26#39;t a bad way to go. My friend was hit with a very large fee for being over their weight limit. Also, the great fares do come with taxes attached, but it%26#39;s still a good deal.

I can%26#39;t make any suggestions for the rest of your trip as I haven%26#39;t been to your other destinations. Sounds like you have a great trip planned. Have a wonderful time.

Thanks, Linda.

That sounds great--and I will be staying in 18 in Montmarte so I will be close and Ryan Air has really good rates that%26#39;s why I considered it. Thanks again.

You%26#39;re welcome!!!

Ryanair flights can be very cheap, but you have to include also the cost of the shuttle bus from Beauvais airport to Porte Maillot: 13 euro one way per person (no reduction on round trip: 26 euro per person!!) : it can be sometimes more expensive as the flight itself....

Thanks again for the tip. And besides money there is the time involved. The other option is to take the train to Madrid from Paris--one day early--and enjoy the countryside. I will have a Eurail pass anyway.

Minor caveat: The bus from P.M. that connects with your flight will leave 3 hours 15 minutes before your flight time. If there hapens to be another leaving within the next half hour or so to connect with another later flight you *might* be OK taking that one — but it%26#39;s not a worthwhile risk IMO.

The trip by train is painfully slow IMO — 13 hours at a minimum and the Elipsos night train is the only direct train.

I would prefer the EasyJet ORY -MAD or the Vueling CDG-MAD flight to Ryanair or the train.

Bear in mind that smaller, budget air carriers often have different baggage size, number and weight limits (and actively enforce them with over-weight-size charges...that may be more than your airfare) than most major air carriers...so know what these baggage limits and charges are and make your plans accordingly.

Thanks again for the info. I learned years ago to travel light so baggage is not a problem but the other air carrier suggestion is particularly appreciated. Thanks for sharing your experience.

And it looks as if Air Europa that is getting me from Cancun to Madrid and back, also has a flight from ORLY to Madrid that I may be able to get but it seems much more expensive than other carriers so I will sure check the others. Thanks again.

You may already know this, jimi, but travelling light is only half the baggage story with Ryanair. They now charge 12€ for every piece of checked baggage (less if you pay for the bagggage when you book your travel). In addition the 15 kg baggage limit is per traveller. If there are two of you travelling together and you have one 20 kg and one 10 kg suitcase you *will* be charged an excess baggage fee even though together you are under the limit. Their weight restrictions on cabin baggage are also very tight and usually strictly eonforced.

EasyJet and Vueling are both much less restrictive and neither expects you to buy a separate ticket for your checked bagggae. In face their baggage policies are basically the same as most of the major airlines%26#39; on intra-Europe flights and actually more generous than some. But it is always wise to check, whichever ailine you are using. Excess baggage fees can make that cheap Ryanair ticket suddely lokk like a lot less of a bargain.
