mom/teen 4th district stay

Great info here - appreciate metromole comments. Have on hold apartment on Rue de Tournelles, 100 m bastille metro, 200 m quay of Arsenal. Is this a safe location as far as you know? We%26#39;ll be here 1 week in Spring and want to relax at cafes, see sights, enjoy the neighborhood. Would 7th district be a better match? Thanks!

Yes, Rue de Tournelles is a great area - the closer to the Bastille the better (and you are very close) Absolutely loads of cafes. restaurants, shops almost at your doorstep. Walk to many major attractions and the fabulous market almost on your doorstep. 5 minutes to Place des Vosges/Place du Marche Ste Catherine. Safe day and night. - good choice!

The 7th seems to suit some, but personally, I like to get on the boat, see what I need to see there and bolt back to the Marais as quickly as I can.

Thanks for the kudos BTW,

Personally, I think the 7th is kinda boring. I couldn%26#39;t have said it better than janesatelier. I%26#39;d take the Marais over almost anywhere in Paris.

I stay in hotels and didn%26#39;t realize you could hold an apartment rental. The 4th district fulfills all of your criteria. I agree that the 7th is quiet in comparison. I like visiting but it%26#39;s a bit dismal in the evenings so I wouldn%26#39;t want to locate there for a week. Was there a particular reason you are considering the 7th instead?

Thank you so much for all of your advice. We%26#39;re going. It%26#39;s booked. I%26#39;ll check other posts for not to miss sights, bakeries, open markets but would of course appreciate any tips!

Don%26#39;t know if your teen is a girl or a boy, but there are a lot of us on the board who have toured Paris with teens (in my case recently with 2 boys and a girl)...if you do a search you will find many threads that discuss teen activities, sights, food, etc...

Now have sent deposit for studio apartment at 12 Rue Tournello. Owner is requesting remainder of rental payment sent before our arrival including a 250 euro security deposit (refundable). Payment can be wired, Travelers Checks or PayPal. Since we haven%26#39;t seen the place, that seems risky. Is it crazy to be renting an apt instead of staying in a hotel? The price is much better for the apt. I have offered to pay w/ Travelers Checks upon arrival and await the owners response. Any thoughts?
