Hotel needed for 5 girls

Dear all,

I wonder if someone could help me.

We are five girls in our late 30s from the UK, coming to Paris for the weerkend. We%26#39;re looking for a nice hotel in central Paris or close by for the nights of 16-18 March, one which does not cost the earth. We%26#39;ve looked and looked but can%26#39;t find anything and are getting desperate.

We%26#39;re not looking for total luxury, just a nice quality place.

We would also be keen on renting an apartment, but again we%26#39;re not having any luck.

Would anyone be able to advise us. It would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

Try one of the hotel booking agencies such as venere.com, ratestogo.com or lastminute.com. Check the reviews here and on the booking site for any place that has availability. If you see something interesting and you want more specific information, ask again.

One place you might look at is the Hotel des Mines. It%26#39;s a 2-star in a pretty good location in the 5th arrondissement close to the Jardin du Luxembourg. It gets good reviews here. (I have never personally stayed there.) You might be looking for something more luxurious though. Your post is a bit vague on your budget and exactly the kind of place you are looking for.

BTW, Dublin is now in the UK???

As I don%26#39;t know what your budget is, I would advise going to one of the booking sites, also. Put in the dates and they will show you what hotels are available. From there go to TripAdvisor and see what the reviews are. I just stayed at the Duc de St. Simone over New Years, and it was great! A little pricey; 240E per night. Try the Dauphine St. Germaine; really close to the Seine (which is where you want to be in order to walk everywhere) and it has good reviews. I don%26#39;t remember what it costs, though. You can look at it on Hotels.com; I found that site very useful.

Good luck; and have a blast! I recommend one night going to Bofinger brasserie for dinner.

For apt rental one of the best is www.vrbo.com.Plenty of pictures and you deal directly with the owners.

I am sure you%26#39;ll have many to choose from .Good luck

Hi all,

many thanks for your replies. I will take your advice and look at the sites and also the specific hotels mentioned. I think lastminute.com might be best, but it gets kind of fraught not havcing a hotel as the departure date looms, oyou need to hold your nerve a bit. Our budged is approx E75 per person per night but we might have to up that a good bit by the loo of thigs.

By the way Irish rover, sorry for the miscommunication. Dublin is most certainly not in the UK. The rest of my friends on this trip are flying from the UK and will be joining them in the UK before we fly over, so I just put down the Uk for shorthand.

Thanks again

You might have to spring for three double rooms for the six of you if you can%26#39;t get a double and a triple. Single rooms in Paris hotels are not all that common and tend to be about the size of a broom closet. Triples are also not common. Besides I think the rule is that you%26#39;re not allowed to have less than one bathroom for every two women! :-)

Check out this hotel:

Hôtel Lenox Montparnasse, 15 rue Delambre, Paris 75014

http://www.paris-hotel-lenox.com/

The hotel is in a great location close to Montparnasse station. Lots of cafés and restaurants close by. Not far from the Jardin du Luxembourg. Probably about a 20 minute walk to St. Germain des Prés across the 6th arrondissement (good shopping and restaurants etc.). Maybe a half hour walk at the most to Notre Dame cathedral. The hotel gets stellar reviews on this site. Check them out. Venere is showing three rooms available for your dates at 135€ per room. I wouldn%26#39;t hesitate. Check the hotel%26#39;s web site and if their rates are higher ask if they will meet the Venere price.

If that one doesn%26#39;t work try Hôtel Villa Mazarin, 6 rue des Archives in the 4th (Marais). Perhaps a sligly better location and it%26#39;s a 4-star hotel. All non-smoking rooms, at least in theory. More expensive at 168€ on Venere but perhaps worth it. Again check the reviews.

Other possibilities might be Best Western Aramis St. Germain, 124 rue de Rennes in the 6th and Hôtel Observatoire Luxembourg, 107 bv. St. Michel in the 5th.

I was kidding about the Dublin thing, but you know that...

Good luck!

Thanks a mill Irishrovr.

The first hotel you mentioned is booked out but I will try the others till I get something. Especially the Marais area is pretty inviting.

It is difficult getting hotel rooms for an odd number such as 5 and even more so when we all want single beds/twin beds.

I hope we get sorted!

Thanks again

They all had rooms available when I posted. You are really going to have to jump on anywhere you find that is suitable at this point. You may have a hard time finding rooms that will exactly suit your specifications for twin beds and the like at such short notice.

Good luck!
