Versilles guided tour or not

Hello,

Family of four planning for a day trip to Versailles. Other freinds opinion is to join a guided tour reservation before we leave.

I like to take the RER from 6th distrcit to the Versailles, buy our tickets and do the day trip at our own pace. What do you all think about this subject?

Can you rent an Audio guide when you buy the Palace tickets? I am guessing, yes.

Merci

There are audio guides available. I would be inclined to go out there on my own and then do a mix of self guided tours and perhaps one guided tour in English offered by the staff at Versailles itself.

Morgan,

Are you saying that I can buy the tickets at the Palace entrance and take the English Tour offered by the Staff?

Merci

Hi Deco,

I would suggest that you buy your entry ticket prior to going out there for Les Grands Apartements. The lines can be very very long for the the formal rooms. You can get the ticket no less than two days prior at any FNAC with a ticket office in Paris. Once at the palace you can get your tickets for any guided tours you are interested in at the D entrance. There are several portions of the chateaux that are only open to guided tours. Check this out for more details:

You may also consider a day pass which gets you into much fo the palace for one price. It just depends on how much of the palace you want to see.

Morgan - does the museum pass get you into Versailles?

(Apologies to Deco...)
