%26#39;..Ground Zero%26#39; for fabric shops in Paris will probably be up in the 18eme-Montmartre, below Sacre Coeur. There are a concentration of fabric and sweing %26amp; needlecraft shos up in this neighborhood...the largest will be--

DREYFUS-MARCHÉ SAINT PIERRE--

Though not a fabric shop...an %26#39;..Alladin%26#39;s Cave..%26#39; for trim, buttons, ribbons, sewing and neddlecraft will be--

La DROGUERIE--9 -11 rue du Jour (just up the block from e Saint Eustache), 7500, Metro: Les Halles %26amp; Etienne Marcel--

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;Do you know of any place that would have any Toile?%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

My knowledge of fabrics is largely limited to my wife occasionally holding up a sample of some cloth or another and asking, %26quot;...what I think of this for mumble...mumble...mumble...in the mumble..mumble...mumble..room ?...%26quot; (which is seldom very much one way or another) but if you mean something like a light ,cotton, printed fabric (it%26#39;s pretty much all %26#39;..chintz..%26#39; to me) then I know that Marché Saint Pierre has an e x t e n s i v e (and time consuming) selection.

If you use the %26#39;..SEARCH IN:..%26quot; feature of this TA forum, using %26#39;..Fabric..%26#39;, %26#39;..Fabric Stores..%26#39;, %26#39;..Sewing..%26#39; as your general Search criteria, you will come across several threads with a lot more information and insights on these topics that may better direct you to what you%26#39;re looking for.

KD is absolutely right about Marche St. Pierre. And, I think you can find the best selection on the very first street you come to, after you exit metro Anvers so you don%26#39;t have to go too far. Walk up rue Steinkerque, pass the couple of %26quot;Sympa%26quot; clothing bin stores, and the 1st and 2nd fabric shops you come to on the left hand side have what I%26#39;ve found to be some of the best toile selection of all. reyfuss and Moline (up Steinkurque and right a couple of blocks) are very good, too, but if you aren%26#39;t in the mood to fight the crowds, you don%26#39;t have to.

Look at this web site. Also Tissue Reine is a 4 story fabric selling place right there in Montmarte. I love the Montmarte area for wonderful fabrics. I am sure you will find what you want there! There are those two multistory fabric stores and many small places that are on the surrounding streets.

Bouchar is a good place to go look for fabric and pre-made linen.

The big department stores also have small %26quot;tissue%26quot; departments too ( BHV, Galleries, Bon Marche, etc).

If you ask your hotel desk clerk he can also give you a computer list of addresses for small fabric stores .... some dealing with just quilting fabrics and needlepoint and crossstitch products.

I usally go to all the above places.

Thank you all so very much!! All your information it very apperciated.

I just came back and had a blast looking through all the fabric stores by the Sacre Couer! I ended up with a gorgeous linen/cotton toile for 15E a meter; great price! I%26#39;m going to upholster an old wingback chair, which will then be my Paris chair! I found it on one of the side streets to the right of the street everyone walks up to go to the church.

Have fun!

Sorry I didn%26#39;t see this post sooner. The screen name on your post today caught my eye. I visited a cute little quilt shop last December that you might like. It%26#39;s called Le Rouvray Patchworks, at 3 rue de la Bucherie in the 5th. They have lovely French fabrics and toile. Their website is www.lerouvray.com. I bought a few sets of gorgeous fat quarters that I%26#39;m hanging on to till I find just the right project. If you ask Diane she will guide you to the fabrics that can%26#39;t be found in the US.
