Take the RER to Gare du Nord, exit at the northeast and board the 42 city bus. You can buy tickets from the driver.

Ride it to the Eiffel Tower, a very scenic route, where you can catch the Batobus.

You can end your day on or near the Ile de la Cite, where Notre Dame is located] then take the Metro back to Nord [or walk over to Chatelet les Halles, which is a very large and confusing station].

For a map showing the metro stations, on the following hit station then enter Cite Metro. Further south with the map, St Michel is also on Line 4, a straight shot to Nord.

I think Francophool missed the little letters %26quot;dlp%26quot; in your post and mistakenly assumed you were arriving from London by Eurostar, not by RER from Marne-la-Vallée. Yes you can take the RER Line A to Châtelet/Les Halles and begin your exploration of Paris from there. The Batobus will eventually get you to the Eiffel Tower. There will be stands selling snacks around the ET.

You will also find many places to buy a sandwich or the like around the area of Notre Dame cathedral on rue d%26#39;Arcole for example or just across the river in the Latin Quarter when you arrive. Cafés will also have good quick snacks, anything from a croque monsieur (grilled ham and cheese sandwich) to salads and omelettes and the like. You will find plenty of these again around the Latin Quarter or in tthe first few blocks if you take any of the streets leading away from the river at the St. Germain des Prés Batobus stop.
