Hotel Castiglione

Any personal experiences at this hotel? It doesn%26#39;t seem to be getting very good reviews. Has anyone stayed there recently? Please help!! I am taking my Mother-in-Law who is used to traveling in luxury to some degree. Please advise. Thank you.

Did you need to stay at the Castiglione specifically?

I hastily booked because Gate 1 travel said rooms were going quickly. if I could get some personal feedback maybe I can change the hotel.

What other hotel choices do they offer just in case you can change it?

They really do not provide a list. If you want to change hotel you would need to let them know which one to price out.

That%26#39;s what I am referring to. Gate1 has air and hotel packages that are listed per price category. Based on the price category that you selected what other hotels does Gate1 offer?

Yes, I booked this exact same trip last year for my parents with Gate 1. They stayed for a week at the Castiglione. I am sorry to say that they really did not like it at all. They said it is in very bad shape, run down and falling apart all over the place. They AC did not work for their entire stay and the hotel did nothing to fix it despite repeated requests. They did say the location was good. But nothing redeeming about it.

Gate1 should allow you to upgrade to the next class of hotel. If you look on their site, their hotel choices are listed in the order of terrible to good. Castiglione falls right in the middle. That is why I picked it. But apparently it is the middle of the road of the not so good hotels.

If you MIL is traveling with you and she is used to traveling in luxury, I would do everything in my power to get a different hotel! Good Luck.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I will see what I can do to upgrade the hotel. I have been worried about it ever since I read the reviews. How can such a terrible hotel charge such high prices?350.00 USD!!! Side note-we did upgrade to deluxe rooms. Do you think they might be better than the standard rooms?

They charge so much so that they can afford to pay Gate 1!!!

Travel agencies, with a few exceptions, are a very poor way to book one%26#39;s holidays.

I am surprised you are paying $350 per night for this Hotel. That seems ridiculous. Are you sure it is the Castiglione at 38-40 RUE DU FAUBOURG SAINT-HONORE - 75008 PARIS?

If that is the same hotel, we paid roughly about $220 per night for double occupancy. Unless you are going at the peak of the travel season, I can%26#39;t imagine the same hotel costing so much.

I do not know anything about the deluxe rooms. They may be better. I am not sure. I just looked at the price for this hotel on Orbitz and it says $250 per night. So if you dont really need to go through Gate1 on this trip, you could just cancel the trip and book a hotel on your own.

This is not an escorted tour that Gate1 offers. That means you are almost pretty much on your own once you get to Paris to get around and do stuff. They do offer optional tours and such, but those are through local providers. My parents said that if I had not booked any of the optional ones, they would have been able to do everything themselves with the brochures they picked up at the hotel.

Gate1 is actually a good service. My parents used them to go to Italy 2 years ago and are going to Greece this summer. But the escorted tours they offer are way better than the %26quot;do it yourself%26quot; type.
