Special occasion dinner in Paris

We will be in paris for my husbands birthday. We would like to dine at a top quaility restaurant but do not want one that is too posh and stuffy. Many of the michelin star restaurants have a dress code of a suit and tie but we do not want to carry a suit around for just 1 night out. We will have tidy casual clothing with us. Can anyone make us a recommendation for a restaurant that will fit our needs. We are not too worried about cost. Thank you

You could try SEnderens. It%26#39;s a 2 star but it is not stuffy, the interior is very sleek and modern, the waitstaff is young and charming, and the food is fantastic. Plus, the bill won%26#39;t kill you. When I was there, I saw many men in a collared shirt and nice pants but no tie or jacket. That would be fine.

I would not recommend senderens. We dined there yesterday and we were both very disappointed. I am a vegetarian so am used to checking whether a restaurant can find something in their kitchen for me before I make a reservation. Despite asking before making the booking and being told they could find something and reminding them twice when I confirmed the reservation, they were unable to provide more than an over priced plate of over cooked vegetables. My husband was also very disappointed with his food and heis not a fussy eater. We are in the fortunate position of dining a few times a year at michelin restaurants so perhaps our expectations are moulded by this. The service was also very rushed and the waiting staff seemed very disorganised. There was none of the usual slickness seen at top restaurants and they seemed anxious to get us in and out as as quickly as possible. We normally take between two to three hours for lunch but we were out of Senderens by 1.45 having arrived at 12.%26#39;0. I will not be raving about senderens at all. I am hoping that the Cinq wherewe are dining tomorrow will not disappoint!

If you dine at lunchtime then a jacket and shirt are acceptable. L Espadon at the Ritz is nice or if you are in Paris during the warmer months dining out in the patio at Bar Vendome at the Ritz is another real treat.

Alternatively Jules Verne had a mix of dress when we dined there from sorts jackets through to suit and tie.

Ooops I can%26#39;t edit the post. We arrived at 12.40 not 12.00!

Thank you for your posts. We are in Paris in June. My husbands birthday is on a Monday night, I have noticed a few of the michelin star restaurants do not open on a Monday but I will continue my search and investigate your recommendations. Thank you
