Car Rental Question

Is anyone familar with the following cars? Renault Clio 1.2, Citroen C3. Is one bigger than the other? What about trunk space? Not sure which one I should rent. Thanks.

Renault Clio1.2 is it a 3 door hatch back?

Citroen C3 is it the 5 door hatch back?

I do like the Citroen C3 better if it is the 5 door hatch back. It is a more family friendly car ( IMO)!

Make sure you get a diseal car as the fuel cost and the travel milege is much better for the pocketbook!

I have had both. The Citroen is a slightly better (and bigger) car, except I dont think any of the agencies actually have it in diesel, despite what the websites say.

The Clio isnt bad, but the keyless system, if you get it, is oneof the most infuriating pieces of technocr@p ever devised. You can%26#39;t check if you have locked the car, because if you approach the car with the carkeys it unlocks the boot (trunk). This goes for the Megane too. Mind you, the starter button is well groovy.

I have had both cars in the last 12 months, but no matter what I order, I usually end up with something bigger. I have had Peugot Partners, Renault Kangoos, Opel Merivas, and any number of Meganes, even though I book the smallest car available.

I would try for a 6 speed trubo diesel Megane. It may be slightly more expensive to hire but it will get you over 50mpg easy, and you wife will have bundles of fun constantly reminding you that you have another gear......................

I pretty much agree with the Wiz. It usually doesn%26#39;t matter what specific car you ask for. You *may* get that vehicle or something else in the same class. Just depends what they happen to have on hand when you show up.

Or you may even end up as the Wiz says with somethig bigger.

Thanks for the info. Both cars are listed as 5 door. My concern was being able to fit two 22 inch carry-ons in the trunk area. Will definitely try to get a diesel and guess I will go with the Citroen since that%26#39;s 2 votes to 0.

The Clio 1.2 is the %26quot;smallest%26#39; (less powefull) engine version existing : a 1.2 liter engine (the Clio comes in 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 and 2 liters engines) - it%26#39;s more a city car than someting else (the 1.6 is a pleasure but the 1.2 lacks power).

Thanks again for the info - all very helpful. What was so confusing was that the Renault Clio was listed as the economy class and the Citroen was listed as the compact class but they are the same price and look about the same in the pix.

This page is really good for comparing cars. theaa.com/allaboutcars/…

Thanks so much WizardofAus. Great website.

What%26#39;s a Renault Twingo? It%26#39;s not listed in that site. It%26#39;s among the cheapest listed in AutoEurope%26#39;s France options. Recommend skipping it and upgrading? If I rent in the Alps and drop off in Paris, it%26#39;s all downhill?... :-)

For some reason the Twingo was never released in the UK, so I dont know if you will find any reviews of it in English.

It%26#39;s an ugly car with silly headlights............. I would go for the Clio unless the Twingo is almost free.
