To split the check ?

We%26#39;re 3 couples, will waiters mind to split the check for us.

And what would be a simple phrase to ask them for it?

Usually we divide it ourselves. If paying by card, each payer simply tells the waiter how much to put on the card. (an amoun that we%26#39;ve agreed upon together, before the waiter returns with the machine).

It will make things easier for the waiter if you tell him when you order:

%26quot;Nous voudrions des additions séparées, s%26#39;il vous plait%26quot;.

I personally have never seen any of my French friends ask the waiter to split a check. We do the math ourselves. However, you can pay as you like. For example, we may pay with a mix of cash and several credit cards. Just tell the waiter how much per card.

Thanks.

But perhaps I should have asked if the bills in france are specified so It%26#39;s easy to make the split ourselves. I%26#39;ll like to have a whiskey after a meal and wouldn%26#39;t like to have my fellow travellers pay a third of it.

But do the waiters mind to split the bill? In sweden it%26#39;s perfectly normal and not a problem if couples are sitting opposit of each other.

No, they don%26#39;t mind even if makes things a little bit more complicated for them. This is why I suggested you let them know when ordering and not when you ask for the bill.

There is nothing unusual about it.
