Trip on a budget

We are having a short break in Paris and would like any good tips on eating out on a budget (evening meals). Any money saving tips would also help.

There are lots of bistros in the notre dame area that do 2 or 3 courses for 15-20e and lots of take away places for pizza etc if you are concentrating on the site seeing rather than the food so much. We did this last time we went on a tight budget and didnt really get through a great deal of money.

I don%26#39;t know what area you are staying in, but we found several cafes in the 7th that offered 13E plats du jour. We paid only 10E for a nice meal at the cafeteria on the Bateaux Parisien boat launch beneath the Eiffel Tower. Someone on this forum alerted us to it and, while the dining room was cafeteria-like, the food was good and we had a wonderful view of the Seine and the Eiffel Tower while we ate. One night, we bought a rotisserie chicken, bread etc. and had a nice picnic on the Champ du Mars. It was one of our more memorable evenings.

For lunch, gyros, fries and soft drink go for less than 6 E in the Latin Quarter, as do baguette sandwiches (3 or 4E) at small groceries or delis.

On our last trip, we focused too much on saving money on meals and felt like we missed out. While I still don%26#39;t plan to spend more than 15 - 20E on an evening meal this next visit - we won%26#39;t be eating breakfast in the room or skimping too much on food. Eating well is such a big part of any visit to Paris.

How much would adding a glass of wine to a meal mean- budget wise?

Seriously, the wine is NOT the budget breader( house wine is cheap usaully) but the SODA,, my sons cokes cost as much as my 1/4 carafe of house wine many times!
