help: Montmartre hotel by metro

i will be spending one night in Montmartre. does anyone have any suggestions for hotels? i looked on the site and found ample choices, but i can%26#39;t determine how close they are to the metro. i have an early flight back to the U.S. on the next day, and i want to be as close as possible to the station with minimal transfers too.

i%26#39;m not looking for anything fancy - $. i just want a hotel in the 18e arrondissement, by Sacre Coeur, that is clean and nearby metro...

thanks!

Utrillo or Hotel des Moulins are about 2 minutes walk from metro Abbesses (OBS! Use the elevator - there are 6 floors up to the street if you choose the stairs....)

In that case Montmartre is NOT where you wan tto stay. You would be better off at a hotel within a short walk of any of the central RER B Line stations — Châtelet/Les Halles, St. Michel/Notre dame or Luxembourg.

Montmartre is actually a really inconvenient place from which to get to Gare du Nord where you woiuld have to transfer to the RER Line B to CDG. All the others will give you direct transportation by RER to CDG with no transfers.

The Hôtel de Suez might work for you.

yes, of course you are right Irish. mon82 will not get to enjoy Montmartre anyway, so why not stay as close to transports as possible. Stoopid question to mon82: why not stay in a hotel really close to the airport, e.g. Ibis ?

|||

i stayed in the other areas before. i just never got to explore montmartre, and i heard it was pretty nice. and, since i%26#39;m staying a full day there, i wanted to take the advantage of touring around montmartre.

mon82: you will love it. It is like stepping right into one of the first parts of Mistrals Daughter... (haven%26#39;t seen it ??? It%26#39;s a MUST-DO for all Paris-romancers like myself...)

Cool, but getting from Abbesses to CDG is a bore and will involve two transfers and perhaps at rush hour too depending when you need to be at CDG. if you really want to stay in the area you would be well advised to take a taxi at least to GduN if not all the way to CDG.

Personally I%26#39;d stay in a more convenient location, spend the day and evening in Montmartre and take the métro back to my hotel rather than have a messy trip in the a.m.

But it%26#39;s your call...

Irish - it is a wellknown fact that you suffer from a serious lack in your Paris-upbringing, as you are not very well aquainted with neither the 17th nor the 18th arr. Truffaut, support me in this !!

So: from CDG you can catch the RER B to Gare du Nord (OBS!! the signs at the station say %26gt;%26gt;Paris Nord%26lt;%26lt;) - and from there you take a taxi (about 10-12 euro, as you are already in the neighbourhood).

Irish, there is SO much for you to see and do (and not least: eat and drink) - if you would only move beyond your beloved Marais ! You who love the 11th - will adore Square des Batignolles.

That is exactly what I suggested the OP do (in reverse) if s/he wanted to stay in the 18th.

But this has nothing to do with what I do or do not know about the 18th. The OP can spend the entire day and evening there as i suggested. But the issue according to the post was was to get to CDG as easily as possible with the minimum number of transfers. And that does not mean taking a taxi (probbaly at rush hour) to GduN and then switching to the RER, leastwise not in my book.

But as i said the OP gets to make the call...

Irish....... please bear with me...... I was only joking. Remember the overly-heated thread about the virtues of the 17th ?? It has been a LONG day in the insurance-company, so maybe I am not up to my usual wits...

thanks for helping me with this. btw, i%26#39;m a he.

question: so what would guys suggest, knowing the area and the transportation better? should i stay nearby CDG so it will be easy to get there in the morning or stay somewhere convenient in the 18e? my flight will be around 9:30 am back to the U.S., so i will have to be at CDG fairly early. let me know what you guys recommend. thanks again.
