Paris hotel and fun for 20-somethings

My daughters, ages 23 %26amp; 22, and I will be visiting Paris May 22-26. I am thinking of the K%26amp;K Cayre, because of its location and %26quot;hip%26quot; look. Does anyone have definite positives or negatives about the place? The Saint Gregoire was also recommended to me.

Do you have recommendations for places that my daughters may particularly enjoy after a day at the Musee d%26#39;Orsay and the Eiffel Tower?

Thanks.

All of the reviews in the Hotels Tab above look mighty positive for K%26amp;K Cayre.

Let%26#39;s see. What would women folk enjoy to relax? Sipping overpriced, but fantastic hot chocolate at Angelina%26#39;s? Stopping by Maison du Chocolat?

Going to a nice restaurant where the French staff are all young men in tuxedos waiting on them? A dinner cruise on the Seine with Bateaux Parisiens comes to mind for some reason, I%26#39;m not sure, but that could make a long day much longer. I%26#39;m sure this situation could be found in a lot of places.

Nothing against the K%26amp;K, but I think you and your daughters might be happier in an area that is somewhat livelier in the evenings, with more cafés and small restaurants around.

I would suggest the Marais (4th arrondissement) for preference or perhaps the northern part of the 6th (St. Gerrmain des Prés). Not that there is anything wrong with taking the métro to wherever you want to be in the evening, but I think you would all probably be happier just being able to walk the area round your hotel some evenings and be able to find whatever you want in the way of places to eat and sit and people-watch and so on.

For that reason if for no other I would choose the St. G. over the K%26amp;K since it is in the Saint G. des P. area. You might also consider the Bretonnerie and the Bourg-Tibourg in the Marais. The first is IMO one of the best-run small hotels in Paris. The other I have not stayed at but it seems to get pretty good reviews. Another possibility would be the very %26quot;high-concept%26quot; Hôtel du Petit Moulin in the 3rd arrondissement, the northern part of the Marais.

The Marais has just a bit younger a %26quot;vibe%26quot; thn St. G. des P. and more in the way of good trendy boutiques and the like. It would definitely be the area I would suggest first for two 20-somethings and I do not think you would feel the least bit %26quot;out of place%26quot; there. (I%26#39;m pretty sure I am a good bit older than you are and i love the area.) Both areas are very safe day and night and *not* filled wth rowdy party-hearty types. The whole of central Paris is really very safe. Your daughters are city girls and will know what not to do and where not to go without having toi be told but, by and large, you and they will be safe out and about in almost any neighbourhood after dark if you just take the ordinary precautions you would in any big city.

Late May is a wonderful time to visit Paris! Enjoy!
