Air to TGV (Codesharing) Transfers

Booked air/train travel all in one go through Continental out of Newark to Marseille. Change from plane to TGV at CDG. Has anyone ever done this (through the airline, I mean). If so, is it possible to determine what your seats are on the train prior to exchanging your airline ticket for your train ticket at the %26quot;TGVAir%26quot; ticket positon?

Or are we at the mercy of the luck of the draw?

%26quot;Seamless transfer, eh?%26quot;

I%26#39;d settle for transparent.;)

Not sure. Do you have tickets in hand? Is there any indication on them of seat or compartment locations for the CDG-XRF leg? Anything that says %26quot;Voiture%26quot; with a seat number?

If not %26quot;the luck of the draw%26quot; probably describes it pretty accurately. You could try calling Continental (Good luck...) or the English language help desk of SNCF (French railways) in Paris during French business hours at 33 8 92 35 35 39.

I%26#39;m sorry this is not more helpful...

Thanks %26#39;Rover.

I do have tickets in-hand (actually locked in my safety deposit box so that we know where they are with passports, etc). They just looked like regular airline tickets (ie. 1950%26#39;s era IBM punch cards) which I haven%26#39;t seen in years. I%26#39;m guessing that it%26#39;s luck of the draw and so long as we%26#39;re on the ground and headed in the same direction by that point we%26#39;ll be okay with that.

These tickets are for two, but we have friends flying into Paris from various points of origins and were hoping to try and get train reservations close together for the final leg to Provence.

Continental was helpful when I couldn%26#39;t get their site or Orbitz to take our seat reservations for Newark to Paris leg of our trip, so I might give them a shout. (Or maybe I don%26#39;t want to press my luck.)
