Where to Buy Souvenirs Cheap (Shot Glass, chocolate, etc.)

Where can one get souvenirs at reasonable price in Paris. Gifts for friends/family like shot glass, candy, clothes, etc. Thanks.

Of the three areas with the largest concentration of those types of stores (rue de Rivoli, rue de Steinkerque and the Quartier de la Huchette-Severin (I made that up)), the stores on the rue de Steinkerque have the best prices. It%26#39;s the short street between the Anvers metro station and the base of the hill that leads to the Sacre Coeur.

There is, however, a little store on the rue du Mont Cenis, just north of the Place du Tertre, that carries all the same cr...I mean...stuff that all the other stores carry, and it has the best prices of any of them, IMHO.

And if ANYONE on this board dares to ask why I know the answer to this question......

I think the best and most affordable chocolate is at Jeff de Bruges.

They even have some bite size ones wrapped in paper showing Paris monuments, or with a small Eiffel Tower attached. They are all over Paris but I go to the one on rue Vignon (metro Madeleine).

Fear not, AC, I recommend people go to that very location also for the cheap tourist-trappy goodies.

I also agree with the Jeff de Bruges chocolate. It is always a hit with the folks at home, especially the wonderful items they have at easter.

AC, you wrote %26quot;a little store on the rue du Mont Cenis, just north of the Place du Tertre%26quot; which arrondissement is this in? Is this store has a name, or just any store on this rue du Mont Cenis will do?

I%26#39;m staying near Louvre area, but plan to visit Sacre Coeur, etc anyhow. I just need to get a lot of something for everyone back home, so I need it to be cheap. In your opinion, what do you get that people like besides ornaments, chocolates and shotglass? Thanks.

If you%26#39;re staying near the Louvre, it might be best to buy your souvenirs on the Rue de Rivoli so that you can purchase all (or most ) of your gifts in an area that%26#39;s close to your hotel.

I bought each of my friends a mousepad with a picture of the Mona Lisa. They were inexpensive, very easy to carry, and certainly a cinch to pack.

You might want te be aware, however, that Jeff de Bruges, isn%26#39;t French chocolate. It%26#39;s made in Belgium in the Belgian style and shipped to retail outlets throughout France. If you really want a genuine French souvenir, you might want to look elsewhere. (They are yummy, though!)

Galleries Lafayette has an entire section of tourist souvenours. However, After purchasing T-shirts, shot glasses, mouse pads, ect. , as I was walking outside, I came across a kiosk selling the same (appeared to be) stuff for a little less money. Oh well. On my most recent trip I was short on time and ended up buying all that cr*p at the airport. I don%26#39;t know why I do it. I%26#39;ve yet to see my kids wearing any o those t-shirts or using those cute key chains. They did seem to like the brandy in the Eiffel tower bottles though.

And I%26#39;m using my Paris mouse pad as we speak. Another place I buy stuff is in the gift shop at the Eifflel tower. I mus admi I do enjoy strolling on the Rue Di Rivoli you can find a wonderful selection of good and junk there. Its not to be missed.
