Paris next week with 13 year old Grandson, is this too much

We leave March 14 for Paris and Rome. Four days in each city with travel on the night train between cities. In Paris we have tours booked :

First day: should be at the hotel no later then 2:30pm. We are staying at the Derby Alma very near the Eiffel Tower so plan to walk over after check in. May go to the top depending on the lines.

second day: Semi private driving tour of Paris to learn our way around in the am. Then off to the Louvre in the afternoon.

third day: Versailles in the am ,then up to Sacre-Coeur in the afternoon. That evening we have another tour to see Paris at night.

Fourth day: Train does not leave until 7:00 pm so will see the Arc de Triomphe and the Invalides before heading to the train. May get up early to be first in line to go up the Eiffel Tower if we have not been up yet. Is this too much for the time we have?

I know we are missing a lot but have limited time. Should I try to included something else? What? Thanks

I%26#39;d skip Versailles, Save it for another trip, only because you are already doing lots of running around and 13 yr. olds NEED to chill (those bones are growing!). Instead of heading out of the city you could visit the Centre Pompidou, which kids seem to really enjoy, stroll through a neighborhood and experience a Parisian cafe.

Hi MollyAnn, We%26#39;re doing a similar trip next week with our oldest grandsons, ages 15 and 16! We leave March 16, spend 3 night in Paris, 5 nights in Rome. The only thing I might suggest would be to take a cruise on the Seine, possibly the first night. It%26#39;s a beautiful way to see the city all lit up, pass under the gorgeous bridges and see the Eiffel Tower sparkling, and it%26#39;s a relaxing way to unwind.

I%26#39;m not sure he%26#39;d be wowed by Versailles the way we adults are, so I might agree with the poster who suggested eliminating it. Save some time to browse the souvenir shops, get hot chocolate at Angelina%26#39;s, climb the towers at Notre Dame - I%26#39;m pretty sure he%26#39;d love that! I know, we%26#39;re also struggling with finding the right balance of things to appeal to our grandsons, and not over-museum them. But you really can%26#39;t go to Paris and at least not stop in the Louvre, now, can you? Good luck, and have a fabulous time!

I agree that Versailles is not much for a 13 year old boy....however I have been to Paris twice..I want to see it. So it is the one thing on the list that I got to choose..the rest he did. and I hope to take a river cruise. Maybe ......

Have a great trip Flahgan.....

Molly

I also think a 13 year old would have far much more fun on the hop on hop off buses than in a %26#39;private car%26#39;.

He also might enjoy the Arts %26amp; Metiers museum if he has any interest in how manmade things have evolved and are made. It%26#39;s one of my favourite museums in Paris and I%26#39;m a 54 yr old woman but it%26#39;s fun.

Most 13yr old boys would find it interesting. It contains Foucaults Pendulum all sorts of crazy flying machines, communication instruments from the very earliest - it%26#39;s a fascinating place filled with %26#39;boy stuff%26#39; no matter what their age.
