Nicest and most reasonably price Wine or Champeign tour

Hello, My wife and I will be going to Paris from May 20-26 and would like to take a trip and go on a nice wine or champeign tour. I have been looking online at tour companys and the prices seem to be around 200 each. Is this the best way to go on these tours, or is there a cheaper way of going on these tours. And can people possibly suggest a particular tour or area of france to go to. Thanks alot

Are you talking about a day trip?

The most popular area, of course, for Champagne would be Champagne itself...Epernay and Reims, for example...

yes, it would be a day tour. what about wine tours that you would recommend?

You could always just make you own tour. Take the train to Reims from the Gare d%26#39;est (about 90 mins) and visit the Cathedral there and there are a number of Champagne houses in town you can visit. The tourist office near the Church has a guide with map. The cost should be less than 10E each for the tour and a tasting. You could tour any number of famous %26quot;Maisons du Champagne%26quot; there including: Krug, Lanson, G H Mumm, Piper-Heidsieck. Pommery, Taittinger and Veuve Clicquot are within walking distance of the cathedral.

Google Reims and visit their civic-tourist site...you can view it in English.

Reims is a nice small cite`. Near the train station is a free musee in the Ecole de Roosevelt which was Allied Headquarters when Germany surrendered there on May 8, 1945 ending WWII. They show a 20 minute film and then you can visit the exhibits, including the Front Pages of many of the world%26#39;s newpapers and the actual room and table where the documents were signed.
