Charles de Gaulle Aeroport terminals dash

This is similar to a recent post, but with different locations. We%26#39;re flying on AirFrance into CDG terminal 2D, then we have an hour and twenty minutes before our AF flight to the U.S. leaves from 2E. Is this going to be a problem? It looks like there is a hotel and train station between the two.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

One of the reasons that I refuse to use CDG under any circumstances is the fact that the best answer to your question is %26quot;maybe%26quot;. Since you%26#39;re flying AF all the way, you should be able to check your luggage through to your US point of entry. Then it will be a matter of your initial flight being on time, and you moving quickly.

It shouldn%26#39;t be a problem to make your second flight, but at CDG, one never really knows.

Thanks 1BC, that still helps.

We%26#39;re flying to CDG because Air France is beginning a direct Seattle-Paris service June 11th. We had already been planning to leave for France on June 12, before we heard about the new AF flight, so the serendipity of that timing was too striking to pass up.

We did a similar connection with slightly less time than you have. Prepare either to walk quickly or run as there are at least two security checks and a long shuttle drive between terminals.

Thanks Paris 1204, that%26#39;s very helpful. I think we%26#39;re going to risk it. Nothing like a brisk run before settling down for a 9-hour flight!

Last December, we flew AF from LAX to BUD via CDG. Our outbound flight arrived an hour late but %26quot;fortunately%26quot; we parked at 2A instead of 2E. But it was still a hectic connection!

We were prepared to walk to 2B but were forced to take the shuttle. From our gate at 2B, we were put on a bus to the plane. We made the connection and most of our luggage made it to BUD (the final piece arrived at the hotel after midnight.)

Our return flight from CDG 2E to LAX was quite an experience. If at all possible, check in online for your flight before getting to CDG. The link is on the AF website. If you do not check in ahead, you will be forced to learn to use a very daunting-looking machine! People seemed totally confused with the process. With our advance check in, we went straight ahead to check our bags. Also, using the online check in you can choose your seats. Our original seat assignment was deleted and on a 777, one does NOT want the dreaded middle seat in the five-seat section!

After checking the luggage, we walked and walked and walked, down long corridors and down stairs only to find another bus waiting to take us to a remote set of gates which are part of 2E. The ride is slow and uncomfortable. There are Duty Free shops in this remote terminal but they were not as well stocked as the inside shops.

Our flight to LAX was delayed. It was raining. We had to walk through the rain to climb the stairs to the plane. I suspect 50% of the flights at CDG involve a short or long bus ride, arriving and departing. I recall reading on the AF website that the consolidation of all CDG-USA flights to 2E was an improvement and an enhancement. From our experience, it felt more like a penalty.
