Romantic dinner for two on a BUDGET

Hi everyone,

My boyfriend and I will be heading to Paris for the first time at the end of March. He%26#39;s paying for the majority of the trip so I want to surprise him by planning out a nice evening at a cozy/romantic restaurant, preferably with a awesome view, and maybe a night cruise on the seine river.

Can you please suggest some restaurants near the Eiffel Tower, because we%26#39;ll be staying near there, which would be appropriate? As for the budget, could I find something around 250US for the both of us including a bottle of wine? I%26#39;ve read that Altitude 95 has amazing views since it%26#39;s inside ET but how much do you think the dinner would cost?

Also, is there anything else that you would reccommend to do after dinner??

Thanks for all your help!! Oh, and we%26#39;re in our mid to late 20s, if that matters.

Hi Mel - I can not talk from experience as I am also planning my first trip to Paris. However, I have received a lot of great advice and suggestions from others on TA that I will pass on to you. First off, almost every post that I have read has stated that Altitude 95 does not offer a great culinary expirience. If you are purly looking for view then it might be ok for you. Personally I would like good food and a good view. There are two restaurants that have been pretty consistently recommended for dinner with great food and a great view. One is le Café de l%26#39;Homme, in the 8th (http://www.lecafedelhomme.com/) and the other is Au Bon Accueil in the 7th. If you put either name of the restaurant in the search function for this forum you can read reviews from those that have previously recommended these restaurants. I have made reservations as both for my trip and you can even view some pictures and a menu on the l%26#39;Homme website. Also, I think that you would be able to have a grand meal for $250 USD at these two places.

Also, I might suggest that if you do want to have a meal in the Eiffel Tower, you try le Jules Verne for lunch. We are considering this and I have heard that lunch for two will run you around 150-250€. The food and the veiw are both supose to be really great, but it is a lot more formal than the previous two suggestions.

Anyway, I hope this helps but remember, search the older threads on these for info from those that have been there.

Opps, I forgot to mention that we have also planned a Seine river cruise for the night of my birthday (after we eat at le Café de l%26#39;Homme). Below is the info on the cruise that many people have recommended and/or preferred. If you go to the website you can get a coupon for 2€ off of each persons ticket, making it 9€ each.

Bateaux Les Vedettes du Pont-Neuf Square du Vert Galant, 75001 Paris

Tel : 33 (0) 1 46 33 98 38

Also, this is one of the only boats with a bar that is open onboard during the cruise. We have also read recommendations to bring a bottle of wine or champange along with you on the cruise.

BOnjour Mel Chen,

Have a look at the link below. It is for the restaurant on top of Musée Branly, near la Tour Eiffel. We had a superb lunch two week ago. The decor is very design and simple which leave more place to the great view. T

here is a degustation menu in the evening and the price are in your budget. You will need a reservation asap.

US$250 is plenty for a formule lunch at Jules Verne with a modest selection of drinks. IMO, it%26#39;s a bit classier and yummier than Altitude 95, you get the private elevator ride too. As for budget, I%26#39;m usually so stuffed by these lunches, that dinner is not needed later in the day.

Thanks for your help but what is a %26quot;formula%26quot; lunch?? And, I%26#39;m not sure if I want to spend 250US on lunch since isn%26#39;t the view not as nice during the day?

Hi Mel Chen,

Are you allowed to bring your own champagne on board this or any other boat? What are the laws regarding drinking your own wine outside? Does anybody know this, as there quite a few restrictions on this in the UK.

Mel --

There is one basic thing you are not recognizing in your plan - you%26#39;ll be having your dinner in PARIS -- that is all it takes to make your dinner special and romantic. You need do nothing more. Find a restaurant as you are wandering in the city that appeals to both of you, and voila! that will be your romantic dinner. After dinner spend some time walking along the Seine, and you have the perfect romantic evening. Enjoy!

Bon voyage.

1728 is a romatic little place.

So just got me a romantic little gift of an unusual restaurant/bar Guide and they also list Villa Toscane in the 15th.
