This not TO you%26#39;re talking about, Paris has no real downtown area.

I suggest you get a guide book then make up your mind on the area you intend to live in (based on what you intend to visit), then get back to us with more precise questions (e.g. 2 or 3 or4 star hotel, price you wanna pay, etc).

What about the Eiffel Tower, the Champs Élysées, the Louvres, the Arc de Triomphe, the Musée d%26#39;orsay and....

Most hotels don%26#39;t have restaurants for meals - maybe just a breakfast room. (unless you%26#39;re going %26#39;high end%26#39;). It%26#39;s difficult to find a hotel with a cleanliness issue. (unless you%26#39;re going %26#39;low end%26#39;). Hoteliers should not be expected to be %26#39;friendly%26#39; - rather, they are courteous and professional, sometimes helpful. Many hotels do not have concierge services and should not be expected to do trip-planning for you. The single-digit arrondissements (districts) are usually preferred by first-time visitors - that means you are looking for hotels in mail codes 75001-75009, and most popular are those areas in 75004, 75005, 75006, 75007 and maybe 75001.

Any guidebook or even travel website can suggest what you should see/do . . . you need to read up, so you can figure out what%26#39;s interesting to YOU.

Try Les Trois Poussins (hotels.com were cheapest at the time we booked). We%26#39;re going there next week but the reviews seem to be really good.

never been before so can%26#39;t advise you any further

Thank you for all the responses. I will get a travellers guide book and read up further. Obviously, this will be our first time going to Paris and I will review the suggested hotel in the last reply.
