La Rosiere & transfer from Bourg St Maurice

We are going by train from London via Bourg St Maurice to La Rosiere in Feb 2007. We are having difficulty getting a taxi transfer we can book to meet our train at Bourg St Maurice and take us to La Rosiere and then to do the return trip a week later. Has anyone got any hints, tips and/or recommendations for the transfer, skiing in La Rosiere or the best place to shop re supermarket etc as we are self-catering.

All advice greatfully received even if it seems obvious to the person writing it! Thank you

try www.a-t-s.net (air transport service, but also covers Bourg train). It seems expensive. Any news on buses? I am in party of 2 also seeking transfer Bourg (to Tignes) 3 Feb. MW

A few years ago we skied at LaRosiere for a day. We actually based ourselves in Bourg St Maurice, in a self-contained apartment and drove up for a day (we had a hire car). It was the first time we%26#39;d been to Italy, as it borders with La Thuille (sorry i can%26#39;t remember how to spell it, it%26#39;s been awhile). It was extremely windy in La Thuille and just plain beautiful in La Rosiere the day we went.

The Super U is just out of town (not really that far, but not walking distance from the station) and the Casino (supermarket) closer to the station, but smaller than the Super U. Cheap fuel at the Super U also. There is a great bakery in the heart of Bourg at the end of the pedestrian lane.

As for transfers, I suggest contacting the tourist office or where you are staying for more info. If that fails, try hitch hiking. Can%26#39;t be anymore help than that I think.

Hope there is lots of snow for you.

La Rosiere is lovely. There is a bus station right at the train station in Bourg but the buses up to the station are irregular. Check out altibus.com. Jean Pierre taxi should be able to collect you

Be sure to say HI to Chris and Gary the owners of the Hotel Le Ruitor and check out their restaurant. Shameless plug as they%26#39;re friends of mine (sorry)!

There is a huit a huit (supermarket) in town it has everything you need. Plus lots of delis for meats and cheese. There%26#39;s a ski plan on line at larosiere.net.

Thanks for everyones help. We have finally managed to book a taxi with M. Prudhomme it has been very difficult finding someone available, but it is probably one of the busiest times of year. I have also received extensive help from www.snowheads.com which I would suggest anyone thinking of going skiing visits, irrespective of resort. Snow looks good - so we are looking forward to a great holiday!

Hi, we%26#39;re off to La Rosiere for the first time on Saturday. I wondered if you have any restaurant recommendations following your stay there? Or any other helpful tips? Many thanks
