Cheap tobacco & ciggies

Last time we were in Paris we did%26#39;nt notice anywhere actually in the city centre that looked like a duty free shop (only at the Gare du Nord) Being from England and always on the lookout for cheaper ciggies (cigerettes to the masses) we were wonder where the best place to buy them tax free was? We wont get the chance to stop at a hypermarket en route back to the channel tunnel as we will be using the eurostar and I dont think they would take kindly to me shouting out STOP HERE A SEC! lol

We know that its great to get wine and champagne from the local food stores, the prices there are very resonable compared to England, would this be the best place to do the same with the tobacco? Any suggestions on best buys would be most helpful.......

N.B Does this post make me sound like a wino who%26#39;s always got a cigerette in her hands? lol........I dont actually drink but would love to bring back useful gifts for friends and family...........I%26#39;ll shut up now as I fear I am digging a bigger hole!

any one ??????????

I do not smoke but hubby does on vacation.

We did not find cigs at the hypermarches.... we had to go to a Tabac store. I think he paid about 5.80 euros per pack.

I do not think we found duty free cheap cigs except in Andorra.

You wont find tax free cigarettes in Europe, except in international air terminals.

There is no duty free within the EU.

Many many people from the UK do a one day %26quot;booze%26quot; cruise to Calais etc......... simply to get much cheaper cigarettes and alcohol. Being in the EU we can bring as much as we can carry back to the UK provided we can prove its for personal use.........I may have phrased my question wrongly then.......although there is tax on the products in France they are still much cheaper than in the uk so .......Is there anywhere in Paris that is best to go to buy cartons of cigarettes or tobacco? or are they the same price in normal shops?

|||

As far as I am aware the prices are more or less the same in the superstores in Calais as they are in Paris. The only difference is that you wont be able to buy English cigarettes and beer in Parisian supermarkets

|||

Thats fine.......as they would be gifts to take home, it would be nice that they were a little different. : )

|||

Cigarette prices are regulated, so they cost the same amount anywhere in France. Marlboros are currently at €5.

|||

There%26#39;s no duty free.

If you want cheap cigs and an experience, Barbés and La Goutte d%26#39;Or areas will have plenty of men selling packets on the street. These may or may not be copies.

French people are now going to Spain, Belguim and Andorra to buy cigs, the tax is now almost up to UK levels.
