Monmartre to attractions downtown - how far and how much?

Hi,

I%26#39;m planning a trip to Paris with a tight budget. We are considering very cheap but recommded accomodations in the Montmartre area such as Hotel Bonsejour.

Can anyone tell me ln average how long it takes the metro from Abbesses to the major sights (ex Louvres, Notre Dame ...) and approximately how much it would cost per day? Just trying to see if the extra metro costs and time wasted is worth the bargain.

Thanks a Bunch!!

Well, you theoretically can go all the way across Paris on 1 ticket for 1.40E, if you work it right. A rough travel time to go from Montmartre to Cite, for instance.... hm, 20-30 minutes incl. some walking to stations..? About 10 stations on the metro.

Where you lose a lot of time is if you need to return to your hotel to rest or drop off stuff, then go back out again. Also, Montmartre is on a hill, so you%26#39;ll most likely be doing a bit of extra work on your walks.
