Nice Airport to Astor Hotel, Juan Les Pins

Can anybody recommend the simplest way to get to our hotel(Astor Hotel)? We will be arriving at 8.30pm in August and will have two teenagers in tow. If we caught the bus where do we get off and how long does the bus take.

Also will it be easy to get to Marineland without a car, we were going to rent but having read some of the replies I am thinking this is not such a good idea?

Any experiences of taking young teenagers to this area?

Ollie, at that time of night, the buses are no longer running. Taxis are very expensive. When I go over I take the train. The nearest station (Nice-St-Augustin) is 10 minutes walk, but it is worth it as it is so quick and direct into the centre of JLP. The walk is a bit complicated to explain, as you are heading out the arrivals door, and straight on via the pedestriab walkway towards the main road (under a fly over) - then once on main road turn right and follow the tracks (on your left) for a few minutes til you can pass under them and get to the station. Dont be afraid! The TER (coastal train service) is quite good, and the information desk in Arrivals will give you a timetable and information. Although they will tell you that St Laurent du Var station is nearer (it is just slightly more direct, but longer).

The same train line is handy for getting up and down the coast and day-passes/family passes are good value.

A taxi will set you back. I have never had problems with car hire there, just do what the French do, be persistent, make people help you.

Teenagers maybe wont be happy anywhere - avoid dull attractions like perfume museums (yawn).. stick to what the riviera does best, the beach!

HAve fun - bon voyage - Niamh

Thanks for the info, yes I think I may struggle getting boys to go to a perfume factory!

The bus (200) will be running (they now run through the night) and this may be your best bet. It will take about 45 mins from outside terminal 1 and cost €1.30 each. Get off at the stop called %26#39;Regence%26#39; and walk to you hotel, its less far than the walk to St Augustin which is not terribly pleasant at night. A taxi will cost €55-60.

You can easily get to Marineland on the bus.

I think the area is good for people of all ages. in August you could try the night trotting races at the Hippodrome at Cagnes-sur Mer, for a change.
